Aly Waibel has over fifteen years of experience as an instructor and educational consultant in a variety of businesses and communities.
She received her PhD from the department of Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies at the University of Arizona College of Education in 2015. She specializes in professional development, contemplative education, lifelong learning, somatic learning and community development. Her dissertation research was the first purely qualitative study of Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT), titled Living What the Heart Knows: Learners’ Perceptions of Compassion Cultivation Training.
Aly is currently the Program Director at Compassion Institute, responsible for online education and CCT teacher education programs. Previously, she was the Executive Director of Opportunity Knocks, a private nonprofit organization that serves entrepreneurs, business owners and community leaders in Central Oregon.
Since 2013, as a Certified Facilitator of the CCT program, Aly has facilitated classes in Tucson, AZ, Portland, OR and Bend, OR. She was an Educational Consultant at the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University, to evaluate and develop the CCT Teacher Training program.
Aly completed her B.A. in International Studies at Taylor University and her M.A. in Language, Reading and Culture at the University of Arizona.
